Xbox CSO Matthew Ball has now commented on this report, denying that Xbox has landed an “unique” streaming deal, though his wording suggests the sport should still be accessible by way of Xbox Cloud Gaming.
The Verge’s Tom Warren later apologised for the confusion brought on by his preliminary article, highlighting that the state of affairs “seems to be extra sophisticated” than initially believed. These items can occur, people!
Here is a take a look at Xbox’s assertion:
Authentic Story: The most important deal in Xbox Cloud Gaming historical past is reportedly simply across the nook, as Xbox boss Asha Sharma has apparently informed workers that GTA 6 will stream completely as a part of Xbox Cloud Gaming at launch in November.
This information was damaged in the present day by The Verge, which says that it would not know the way lengthy the deal lasts for, however Sharma highlighted that it is one thing “no different platform holder is doing”.
“Based on sources aware of Microsoft’s plans, Xbox has managed to land a deal for the unique recreation streaming rights for Grand Theft Auto VI.”
Xbox’s unique streaming rights imply that not solely will PC gamers have a method to play GTA 6 forward of its native PC launch, however even Xbox One homeowners ought to be capable to stream the sport to their last-gen consoles as nicely.
One of many catches is that Xbox recently announced Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming limits for Game Pass members that can go into impact from November onwards, with even XGP Final members solely getting a most of 15 cloud hours per-month except they’re prepared to pay for extra.
It is also claimed {that a} new pay-as-you-go providing for the service will start rolling out in November, permitting you to pay for a “bundle of hours” while not having to be a Recreation Go subscriber and even personal an Xbox console in any respect. That mentioned, you will presumably nonetheless want to purchase the full-priced Xbox console model of GTA 6 earlier than you may entry it through the cloud.
These limits are beginning to make sense now! Xbox Cloud Gaming goes to obtain a large inflow of gamers in November when GTA 6 begins rolling out, so Microsoft higher hope its servers can deal with the load.
