A major accident took place in Agra, Uttar Pradesh on the day of Diwali. The entire house collapsed due to cylinder explosion in a house located in Kishorepura street number 5 of Jagdishpura police station area. The explosion was so strong that cracks appeared in the nearby houses as well. In the accident, 6 people were seriously injured by being buried under the debris, out of which the condition of 4 is said to be critical. All the injured have been admitted to Sarojini Naidu Medical College, where they are undergoing treatment.
The accident happened when people had come to the barber shop below the house to get their hair cut and shaving done. Due to the explosion, the upper part collapsed and people got buried under the debris. Jagdishpura police reached the spot and started the rescue operation and pulled out the injured.
Police station in-charge Pradeep Kumar and SI Harish Kumar reached the spot and started relief work. He also suffered minor injuries during the rescue. At present the police and administration team is engaged in relief work.
ACP Lohamandi Mayank Tiwari said, ‘Information was received from Kishorepura that a cylinder blast had taken place in a house. Jagadishpura police immediately reached the spot and rescued four people and sent them to SN Medical College. Two people have suffered minor injuries. Investigation has revealed that the blast took place in the house of a person named Ramjilal, under which two shops – one of gold and silver and the other of a barber shop – were running. Two people also suffered burn injuries when a wall fell on people sitting in the barber shop at the time of the blast.
Police say that fire brigade and administrative officials are present at the spot and relief work is going on at a fast pace. This accident, which happened on the night of Diwali, has created an atmosphere of panic and chaos in the area.
