It is known that Asrani’s personal assistant, Babubhai told in a conversation with India Today TV that the actor was admitted to Bharatiya Arogya Nidhi Hospital in Juhu four days ago. According to doctors, water had accumulated in Asrani’s lungs. He could not be saved in the end. He died on October 20 at around 3.30 pm. The actor had shared his last post on Insta Story a few hours before his death. He had wished Diwali to the fans.

Talking about Asrani’s career, he was known for his comic roles. He was counted among the popular comic actors of Hindi cinema. In a career spanning over 5 decades, he had worked in approximately 350 films. Asrani started his acting career in 1960. He had worked in movies like Mere Apne, Bawarchi, Abhiman, Chupke Chupke, Chhoti Si Baat, Mere Apne, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Bunty Aur Babli 2, Welcome, All the Best.

But the role of the jailer played by him in the classic film Sholay in 1975 became most famous. Asrani also tried his hand in writing and direction. The actor has left behind his wife Manju Asrani. The couple does not have any children. Manju has also worked as a heroine in the industry.
